How Stroll became Guam’s leading ride-hailing platform

How Stroll became Guam’s leading ride-hailing platform

Discover how Stroll became Guam’s leading ride-hailing app and was bought by Tripe J Enterprise 3 years later.

About the company

Stroll is Guam’s leading ride-hailing service that was acquired by Tripe J Enterprise in 2024.

Amit Sadchev, the founder of Stroll started building the app around October to November 2015 and launched on July 2nd, 2016. In 2021, they changed from mobile apps developed by an outsourcing company to Onde’s software solution. Starting with 5 drivers, Stroll increased the number of drivers to 50 and successfully sold the company in 2024.

Finding the gap in the market

Stroll was created to address the island's mobility issues: in Guam, public transportation is underdeveloped, while traditional taxis set fares that are unaffordable for most of the population. As a result, taxies are considered an elite form of transportation. Under Amit's leadership, Stroll became a more affordable yet reliable alternative.

Getting the initial cohort of drivers

In the beginning, Guam invested resources in attracting drivers. To understand drivers’ pain points, the founder of Stroll worked as an Uber driver and conducted market research personally. Based on his experience and findings, the company created a strategy for acquiring drivers that focused on building relationships with them and creating community. The managers also set up customer support and ensured the company was trustworthy and transparent for everyone involved.

Constantly improving the service and standing out from the competition

Stroll did continuous market research, learning from taxi companies in other countries. This allowed the company to find its priorities and focus on operations and safety.

Choosing the right technology

The founder of Stroll pointed out in his interview that choosing Onde was a key aspect of his success. When choosing the taxi software provider, the company had to consider everything: features, pricing model, customer support, and the stability and reliability of the platform.

Stroll went through outsourcing software experience to finally choose the Onde platform in 2021. Since then, Stroll’s customer and driver base scaled. With Onde’s features, Stroll also managed to partner with businesses more officially. According to the founder, it made the company’s management more confident to experiment with the market.
